I Just Heard A Shark Say What I Have Been Saying For Years
If you’re a fan of television shows where entrepreneurs pitch their ideas to the audience to get more clients, you surely have seen the self-assured master in negotiating and deal making Daymond John, the founder of the multi-million-dollar clothing empire FUBU.
I mention Daymond because I heard him deliver the keynote address at InfusionCon, the annual extravaganza gathering for InfusionSoft software users. And I was very impressed.
As someone who has been speaking and teaching speaking for twenty years and has sat in hundreds of audiences, I will say that Daymond delivered the best keynote address I have ever seen a celebrity give. He was dynamic, charismatic, and full of energy, and he used sound effects and video in a unique and innovative way.
In the conference he said, “Power comes from being decisive.” And I agree 100 percent. As a business coach, I see businesspeople, especially women entrepreneurs, take days, weeks, and sometimes months to make even insignificant decisions. They are not improving their businesses this way. “Time is money” is never truer than when it comes to the pace of making decisions. Even small business marketing, for instance, involves quick, but responsible, decision making.
Like any endeavor, making marketing strategies for small business requires that you make fast decisions, take the appropriate actions that will support that decision, and be confident in your decision once it is made. Stick to that decision, reform it if you must, and figure out how to make it still the right decision when something doesn’t go according to plan.
What is your decisiveness quotient? How would you rate yourself on a scale of 1–10, with 10 being you make decisions quickly almost all of the time and 1 being you waver on everything? Whatever your answer, start to focus on being more decisive and watch yourself thrive in your business even more. Joining business seminars and workshops will definitely help too. You will see it make a big difference in your career.
